David Gibson, the Fares4Free Charity Founder and newly appointed CEO, Marie Crombie, are delighted to have been able to give "Operation Pepsi Max" the green light after what has been an extremely tough and arduous few years of Covid restrictions. The whole Fares4Free team have worked tirelessly over the past few months enhancing their Health and Safety Management System and are delighted to now see the rewards of their hard work pay off.
Under the careful watch of John Symes and a team of support staff and volunteers, Fares4Free are today taking Arctic convoy hero Jimmy Doherty, 96, and ex Para, Bill Cobly, 92, down to Blackpool for the week. Trips of these nature have many benefits for the Veterans attending and can spark positive memories from many years ago. No memory can be quite as prolific as the last time Jimmy Doherty seen the lights of Blackpool Tower as he set sail during the Second World War as a young man and thought the Blackpool Tower lights were indeed another ship. Bill Cobly also has fond memories of Blackpool as he and his wife used to visit Blackpool on holiday. Bill hasn't been back in many years and is relishing the opportunity to re visit some of his favourite spots.
We will be writing a blog on how the trip went but in the meantime we would like to wish everyone attending "Operation Pepsi Max" the very best of trips.
